I-Tjuma: Ngaanyatjarra Stories from the Western Desert of Central Australia

Between 2012 and 2018 Elizabeth Marrkilyi Ellis, Jennifer Green and Inge Kral documented endangered Western Desert verbal arts in. the Ngaanyatjarra Lands communities of Western Australia. They filmed the tradition practice of tjinytjatjunku tjuma (telling sand stories), and recorded younger storytellers’ adaptations of this drawing practice to iPads. In this book images from these iPad stories accompany the bilingual text in Ngaanyatjarra and English.
