Eligibility

Nominees must have worked with or been involved with Goldfields Aboriginal languages.

Award Categories

Hall of Fame

Long term commitment by an individual towards the use and preservation of Aboriginal languages.

Outstanding educational body

Awarded for promoting Aboriginal language learning

Outstanding business

Awarded for promoting use of Aboriginal languages.

Outstanding individual

Awarded for promoting use of Aboriginal languages.

Outstanding under 21 year old

Awarded for using or promoting Aboriginal languages

Outstanding individual contribution

Awarded towards Aboriginal language use and preservation

Outstanding individual, organisation or business

Awarded for promoting interpretation and translating of Aboriginal languages.

Outstanding government department or agency

Awarded for promoting use of Aboriginal languages.

Nominees receive a letter of congratulation. Award winners are announced at a morning tea and received a framed certificate.

Conditions

  1. Award winners are decided on merit by a GALCAC committee.
  2. Canvassing of GALCAC staff will result in a nomination being withdrawn.
  3. Race is not a criteria used to determine eligibility.
  4. Winners from previous years will not be eligible for an award in the same category within 10 years.
  5. Aboriginal languages means Goldfields Aboriginal languages.
  6. Award winners are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding winners.
