Norseman Mock Referendum

It’s Mock Referendum time in Norseman!!!!

GALCAC, in conjunction with the Australian Electoral Commission, are running a number of mock referendums in the Goldfields region.

They’re designed to provide an opportunity for people to learn about a referendum, and the processes of voting in one, in the lead up to the federal referendum later this year.

The first mock referendum will be in Norseman on Thursday 1 June between 9-12, at the Woodland Centre.

The question for the Norseman Mock Referendum will be, ‘Is Norseman the horse more famous than the tin camel roundabout?’

Following the closing of the vote casting period at 12 midday, a formal vote count will be undertaken by AEC electoral staff in the Woodland Centre, and the public are invited to watch the process.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the vote counting process! The results of the mock referendum will be announced at 1pm.

A sausage sizzle will be available during the vote counting process to keep everyone sustained. Please join us to vote, during the count, the sausage sizzle and the announcement of the referendum results.

GALCAC will be giving out free showbags of information for families to take home and use to discuss the referendum process.

Come along and cast your vote! See you Thursday 1 June, Norseman!!!!
