Australian Aboriginal Paintings

This book presents an overview of traditional Aboriginal religious paintings. They’re all ‘from’ the Dreaming, the Tjukurrpa, the Wongarr, the Creation, and express this now, in present day Australia.

This book does not analyse or explain the paintings. The presentation is purposely simplified so that the paintings, with their minimal notes, are left to speak for themselves as much as possible. The tools the reader or viewer has for interpretation are very much those the artist have provided – not ‘too much story’ – just enough to understand, and begin to appreciate the deeper levels.
