GALCAC Strategic Priorities 2022-32

GALCAC 2022-2032 Strategic Operational Plan

GALCAC is the peak body for First Nation’s languages of the Goldfields region of Western Australia.

GALCAC’s first strategic operational plan ran from 2011 to 2022 to establish the language centre, and directed the urgent linguistic work on the Goldfield’s languages.

The second decade-long GALCAC strategic operational plan coincides with the UNESCO’s  ‘International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032’

The GALCAC plan draws attention to the critical status of many Goldfields First Nation’s languages and the plan for their use, preservation, revitalisation and promotion. Key features of the GALCAC Strategic Plan are the prioritising of First Nations linguistic sovereignty, data rights and linguistic rights.

The GALCAC Strategic Operational Plan is based on First Nations Acts of Determination, academic rigour, and linguistic protocols.

The full Strategic Plan is available as a download here.

The primary source of funding for GALCAC is from the Australian Government via the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts through the Indigenous Languages and the Arts program. GALCAC Directors are very appreciative of the Australian Government’s financial support for the language programs.
