WAALLA Social Media Campaign: Amplifying the Call for Language Recognition

The WA Aboriginal Languages Legislation Campaign (WAALLA) is gearing up to launch a new social media campaign aimed at raising awareness about the lack of formal recognition and protection of Aboriginal languages in Western Australia. Building on the success of previous online efforts, which generated strong initial engagement and spurred a surge in petition signatures, the upcoming campaign will not only focus on raising awareness but also foster meaningful discussion within communities across the state.

Campaign organisers have learned from past experiences that sustained online visibility is key. WAALLA is committed to maintaining a consistent social media presence, with regular content updates designed to keep the issue front and centre. By sharing powerful stories, facts, and calls to action, the campaign aims to engage new allies, spark conversations, and strengthen the movement for the recognition and protection of WA’s First Languages.
