Right To Be Heard – 1967 Referendum Exhibition

In 2017 GALCAC in partnership with the WA National Trust, created the ‘Right to be Heard’ photographic exhibition.

The exhibition of photographs  recorded Goldfields Elders thoughts, experiences and opinions on the 50th anniversary of the landmark 1967 Referendum.

Everyone has the Right to be Heard. ABC film Right Wrongs (provided with permission).

The first showing of the exhibition was at 57 Murray St, Perth, which is now home to Curtin University’s Law School. This location is significant as it was the original office of the Chief Protector of Aborigines, A. O. Neville,  under the notorious WA State Aborigines Act 1905

Tjupan People’s Song

A song was created and sung by Tjupan people for the exhibition. See that film here.
